If you are an existing FOPE customer that wants to migrate to Microsoft Exchange Online, the following steps can be followed to use your existing FOPE account with Microsoft Online.
1. You will need to get the outbound IP address used by you datacenter. This will be indicated in the Organization section of your BPOS domain (domain.microsoftonline.com). You can request Read-Only Admin access to your BPOS domain/organization and the information will be listed there (shown below)
Once you have this information you are ready for the cutover. The next 3 steps should be performed when you are ready to cutover.
2. Make your domain Authoritative in Microsoft Online. You do not need to enable inbound mailflow. If you try you will get an error.
3. Set your Mail Server Address (in FOPE/EHS) to the appropriate SmartHost:
4. Set the Outbound IP to be the value that your Microsoft Online account is currently configured to use. This is the information obtained in step #1.
This replication should be complete within 90 minutes and you should now see mail coming directly into Exchange Online
